We accept Medicare for our standard services for adults aged 65 years and older.
How We Think About Cost & Value: At Way Treatment Center, our approach is intentionally different from most modern medical practices. We focus on time, depth, and careful clinical thinking—because meaningful neuropsychiatric and brain-based care cannot be delivered in rushed visits or reduced to checklists. Our goal is not simply symptom management, but a clear understanding of how the brain is functioning and what can be done to protect it. For this reason, we operate outside of the traditional insurance model. This allows us to spend the time necessary to provide thoughtful, individualized care. While we do not accept insurance except for Medicare for adults over 65 years old, we provide appropriate documentation for patients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
Two Distinct Types of Evaluations: Way Treatment Center offers two different types of initial evaluations. While they may appear similar on the surface, they serve very different clinical purposes and are structured accordingly.
Initial Neuropsychiatric Evaluation: $350 (Medicare accepted for adults aged 65 years and older) This evaluation is designed to establish a diagnosis, begin treatment, and initiate ongoing neuropsychiatric care. It focuses on psychiatric symptoms such as mood, anxiety, sleep, and emotional regulation, with attention to how these factors affect daily functioning. The initial neuropsychiatric evaluation also includes education, targeted psychological testing, and approximately 30 minutes of direct physician time. It is the appropriate starting point for individuals seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, panic, mood instability, sleep disruption, or related conditions.
Comprehensive Cognitive & Neuropsychiatric Evaluation: $1,000 (Medicare not accepted) – This evaluation is a substantially deeper, physician-directed assessment designed specifically for concerns related to memory, concentration, cognitive clarity, or possible cognitive decline. It includes extensive pre-visit review, in-depth cognitive and psychological testing across multiple domains, and detailed physician interpretation. The purpose is not simply diagnosis, but clarification—distinguishing normal aging from reversible contributors or early cognitive impairment, and identifying opportunities to protect long-term brain health. This evaluation requires approximately 3–4 hours of total professional time and includes a dedicated feedback session and written summary with personalized recommendations. It is typically not required for routine psychiatric care and is reserved for individuals seeking a comprehensive understanding of cognitive function.
Neuropsychiatric Follow-up Appointments: $175 (Medicare accepted for adults aged 65 years and older) – Following either evaluation, ongoing care is individualized based on clinical need. Follow-up appointments may occur at one, three, and seven weeks, then transition to three-month intervals once stable. Virtual visits may be appropriate when no medication changes are required. These sessions require approximately 30 minutes, consisting of further psychological testing, education, and 15 minutes with Dr. Van Horn.
